Research and Documentation

This programme seeks to provide evidence-based information, relating to health and HIV related rights through research and documentation. It also seeks to share this information with relevant partners and stakeholders. KELIN members have been involved research around emerging legal and human rights issues relating to health and HIV. Between 1992 and 1995, by invitation from the Government of Kenya, KELIN collected information and provided input to the preparation of Sessional Paper No. 4 of 1997on HIV in Kenya. From 1999 to 2001, members of KELIN served on the task force for legal and ethical issues relating to HIV in Kenya. The taskforce undertook a study on the legal and ethical issues of HIV in Kenya.

Moreover, KELIN formed part of the consultancy team that was contracted to develop the East African Community HIV & AIDS Prevention and Control Bill. Through this process, members of KELIN carried out extensive research on legal, ethical and human rights issues relating to HIV in East Africa.

Finally, KELIN documents all its research findings and cases of human rights violations related to health and HIV & AIDS.
