“My thoughts & prayers to families of those tragically lost on flight #MH17. Many passengers were enroute #AIDS2014 here in Melbourne” This was a tweet by Mr. Michel Sidibe-UNAIDS Executive Director after six delegates heading to the HIV conference in Melbourne, passed away in a tragic plane crash.
This year the 2014 International AIDS conference will run from 20 to 25 July in Melbourne, Australia and will have a variety of sessions from abstract-driven presentations to symposiums, bridging and plenary sessions. The International AIDS Conference is the top ranking gathering for those working in the field of HIV, as well as policy makers, persons living with HIV and other individuals committed to ending the pandemic. The conference presents a chance to assess the developments that have been made, lessons learnt and collectively chart a way forward.
Mr. Allan Maleche, Executive Director and Ms. Belice Odamna, Programme Officer will represent KELIN at the conference by showcasing our work using posters on the Cultural Structures Project in regard to bringing justice to health for widows living with HIV in Kenya and how trainings for HIV and Human rights networks on using legal literacy trainings to create an enabling legal environment for persons living with and affected by HIV. This session will be among the many that present new knowledge and offer many opportunities for structured dialogue on the major issues facing the global response to HIV.
