KELIN and Partners to launch the National HIV, TB and Human Rights Training and Advocacy Programme

KELIN will on 6 April, 2017 host partners for a one-day consultative meeting at Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi. The objective of this meeting is to introduce the National HIV, TB and Human Rights Training and Advocacy Programme in Kenya. The programme is supported by the AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA).

Since 2008, ARASA has provided financial and technical support on a two-year cycle basis to partner organisations to host a National HIV, TB and Human Rights Training and Advocacy Programme. The Programme has been hosted previously in Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mozambique, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. It aims at building a cadre of knowledgeable civil society leaders across the region as the basis of a broad social mobilization around the right to health and accountability of government and other institutions to their international, regional and national legal obligations for health and human rights.

The Kenya Country Programme which will be hosted at KELIN will be rolled out in April 2017. KELIN will closely work with the two ARASA’s partners in Kenya: Kenya Sex Workers Alliance (KESWA) and Lwala Community Alliance.

This initial partners’ consultative forum will introduce and create awareness about the country programme and discuss the focus areas in regards to HIV and TB to inform the strategic direction of the programme in Kenya.
