Ms Wanjiku told the court that Marura Nursing Home was a private facility that provided family planning services, pursuant to a reproductive health output based aid (RHBA) contract it had entered into as a voucher service provider. The witness further informed the court that L.A.W, the 1st petitioner in this case, went to the facility having already obtained a voucher for the services she required. She stated that Marura played no role in the voucher selection criteria.
On cross-examination by the advocate for the petitioners, Ms Wanjiku confirmed to the court that she was not the one who offered counseling or attended to L.A.W at the facility.
The case is expected to continue on 27 November 2018 when the petitioners’ advocates, the Nairobi county government and the Attorney General will cross-examine Ms Wanjiku.
