On August 30th, 2024, KELIN took a bold step toward transforming healthcare in Kenya. In collaboration with the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC) through the Solidarity Project, we hosted a dynamic forum to validate the critical findings of a groundbreaking Market Intelligence Study. This study zeroed in on the most pressing HIV and TB health products in Kenya, aiming to drive strategic interventions that can change lives.
This was more than just a meeting; it was a gathering of minds that matter. Policymakers, national government representatives, top academics, medical professionals, local manufacturers, civil society organizations, and, most importantly, communities living with HIV, came together with one goal: to ensure that access to life-saving medicines is not just a dream, but a reality for all Kenyans.
We dived deep into the data, focusing on everything from the registration status and procurement challenges to the very real barriers people face in accessing treatment. The findings were clear—there’s an urgent need to break down patent barriers, refine treatment guidelines, and make sure that essential health products for HIV and TB are available and affordable.
But this was just the beginning. The forum wasn’t just about validating data; it was about making sure that every voice is heard as we move forward. We’re committed to addressing global health inequities, especially in low- and middle-income countries like Kenya, where too many people are still struggling to access the medicines they need.
KELIN isn’t stopping here. We’re gearing up for an advocacy forum that will bring these findings to a wider audience, share new insights, and map out the next steps for improving access to essential health products in Kenya.
