The 30 CHAs were drawn from Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori counties. They represent key, vulnerable and priority population groups who are committed to champion the rights to health in their communities. At this training, the CHAs were equipped with skills and knowledge to roll out community-based participatory advocacy for treatment literacy, and reduction of stigma and discrimination. The CHAs were also empowered to champion access to health services and advocate for accessible, acceptable and quality health services in their communities.
At the end of the forum, participants also shared experiences including innovative approaches to problem solving. The CHAs now have the responsibility of empowering their respective community members and other stakeholders towards realization of their right to health. KELIN will be conducting continuous technical assistance to the CHAs as they engage duty bearers and other stakeholders in advocacy and monitoring health accountability for the right to health.
