Participants committed to act as community watchdogs, and bring to light any corrupt practices. They will report and document cases of mismanagement of resources within Kisumu County in a bid to ensure accountability of duty bearers in health service provision.
“This is one of the best trainings I have ever attended that brought together diverse community members to discuss real life issues. The knowledge I have gained from this workshop will help me in community level advocacy to ensure transparency and accountability in the health sector”, Roberto Muyela, Media reporter, Mediamax, Kisumu County
So far, 39 civil society organisations and 13 media practitioners from Kisumu and Kakamega have been trained. As KELIN continues to strengthen capacities of advocacy champions for transparency and accountability in the health sector, it is anticipated that duty bearers will be tasked to ensure resources allocated to health are utilised efficiently, thus ensuring that everybody, especially the vulnerable, realise their right to health.
