CUC is a forum that brings together actors in the administration of justice, users in the justice system, all agencies and stakeholders concerned, to address problems within the sector. The forum serves to promote accountability and improve the performance by courts and all actors within the justice chain. KELIN participates in the CUC as a representative of non-governmental organizations.
During the meeting, Justice Majanja recommended the use of elders’ mediation process, spearheaded by KELIN, as part of the solution for settling land issues in the county. He emphasized the need simplify succession procedures and ensure that information is freely available to members of the public.
Mr. Ondeng shared that KELIN will engage members in its upcoming DREAMS project aimed at addressing sexual reproductive health rights among the adolescent and young women in the county. He also highlighted the rise of defilement cases within the County and the mishandling of these cases by the police and judiciary.
KELIN informed members of the upcoming Inter County meeting, scheduled for the first week of November, aimed at advocating and lobbying for the ADR/CSP within the Kenyan formal justice system.
