This activity will bring together Community Health Advocates (CHAs) from Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori counties who have already been engaged in conducting community sensitization. The meeting builds up to the inception training that was held with the 30 CHAs between 11th and 15 September 2017 in Homa Bay County. This advanced training will tackle concepts in advocacy approaches and monitoring health accountability aimed at enhancing the capacity of CHAs with broad-minded knowledge to empower community members and other stakeholders towards realization of their right to health. The training will further provide an opportunity for the participants to share their experiences and success stories following the initial training, and to strategize on how to maximize their advocacy efforts to realize the right to health.
Upon completion of the training, the Community Health Advocates will be expected to create and strengthen linkages between communities and health services such as HIV & TB testing, care and treatment among key populations and the general public while advocating for accessible, available and acceptable health services.
