KELIN sets stage for HIV, TB and Reproductive Health dialogue forums in 5 Counties

Between 13 February to 9th March 2018, KELIN, with support from ARASA will bring together close to 750 community members, duty bearers and community based organisations, for dialogue meetings to deliberate on HIV, TB and reproductive health interventions within the counties of Migori, Homa Bay, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nairobi. The dialogues will focus on the advocacy gaps, challenges and opportunities for HIV, Reproductive Health and TB prevention, care and treatment.

These forums are broadly set to achieve four objectives namely:

  • To enhance the capacity of Community members on new and emerging issues related to HIV, TB, sexual reproductive health and human rights;
  • To strengthen understanding on the linkages between HIV, TB, sexual reproductive health and human rights, challenges in addressing the same and available mechanisms for redress;
  • To share experiences amongst health stakeholders in relation to the implementation of HIV, TB, SRH interventions; and.
  • To explore the strategic role Community members play in advocacy and monitoring health accountability for improved health service delivery.

Additionally, it is anticipated that the dialogue forums will be useful to heighten community awareness on health rights in relation to HIV, TB and reproductive health, create referral mechanisms for reporting violations and empower communities to demand for accountability in implementation of health related rights.

The schedule of the forums is as follows:

Migori County on 13th to 15th February at Uriri Sub County HQs hall, Kuria West CDF hall-Kehancha, & ACK Church St John the Evaneglist hall.

Homa Bay County on 20th, 21st and 22nd February at Magunga, centre, Rodi centre and Kandiege.
