KELIN is pleased to announce that we have signed a new partnership agreement with the Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU), which will run from 2018 – 2022. This partnership will see KELIN work on several projects including designing a reproductive health model law that can be utilized as a template to guide counties in formulation of their own reproductive health bills. This model law is informed by the urgency to regulate sexual and reproductive health rights within counties in Kenya as well as the absence of a comprehensive template that counties can draw inspiration from.

As part of finalizing the civil society partnership program in Kenya, RFSU held a two day forum on 6 – 7th March 2018 in Nairobi. The objective of this forum was to ensure partners are familiar with the regulations and requirements included in their partnership agreements. Key among the partners that were represented at this forum included Family Health Options Kenya (FHOK), FEMNET, Centre for the Study of Adolescence in Kenya, FIDA Kenya, Nyanza, Rift Valley and Western Kenya (NYARWEK) Network and Q-Initiative who are all working on a wide variety of sexual and reproductive interventions.

As a well-established outfit which is more than 75 years old, RFSU is a Swedish organization which believes in changing and improving people’s lives through sexual and reproductive health information, education and advocacy. The organization is anchored on the belief that they can overcome prejudices, bridge the knowledge gap and improve sexual health, both locally and internationally.

At the end of the five year period, KELIN anticipates several outcomes including increased awareness among women on their sexual and reproductive rights, reduced stigmatizing attitudes and negative beliefs about women’s sexual rights and increased mobilization around sexual and reproductive rights.
