From principle to practice: response against violence on key populations

On 13-14 July 2017, KELIN in partnership with Partnership to Inspire, Transform and Connect the HIV response (PITCH) will conduct a two day training on violence prevention, HIV and human rights, and the documentation of human rights violations in the County of Kilifi.

This training builds on the Multi-stakeholder County Dialogue that KELIN held with the key population community in regards to preventing violence in the context of HIV. Violence against the key population community, including sex workers, persons who inject drugs and men who have sex with men is rife. The workshop is hence founded on the role that the community has to play to support interventions that are geared towards promoting human rights and access to HIV services for the key populations.

The workshop, that brings together a number of key population groups, seeks to enhance understanding of the linkages between violence prevention, HIV and human rights; foster support for key population’s access to justice; and strengthen their capacities to respond to cases of violence.
