KELIN will conduct a radio talk show on Privacy and Confidentiality with support from Privacy International on 22 September, 2014 on KBC radio 92.9 FM. The show will run from 8:00AM to 9:00 AM GMT. The radio talk show will bring out the legal and human rights issues in relation to the privacy and confidentiality of Persons Living with HIV.
The talk show is a buildup of the trainings KELIN has been carrying out on privacy and confidentiality for persons living with HIV in Kenya. A legal expert and a representative of Persons Living with HIV will interactively discuss the following topics;
1. The link between HIV, human rights & privacy and confidentiality.
2. Human rights violations in relation to privacy and confidentiality.
3. Legal framework in Kenya governing privacy and confidentiality.
It is expected after the one hour session, the public will be enlightened on how they can use the existing legal environment for the protection of information relating to the HIV status of persons living with HIV in healthcare settings. It is expected that the awareness of the public especially People Living with HIV on the right to privacy and confidentiality will be increased across the country.
